About the Author
- Mary Kathryn Harris has been researching her and other family's genealogy since 1966. It all started one day when her husband Bill came home and mentioned that one could look up census records at the local library. The information on this site only represents a minute fraction of the information she has gathered since then. Much of her information on the Stark family is available in the book she coauthored, James Stark of Stafford County Virginia and His Descendants.

Conventions and Notations
- The generations are labeled with a numbering system that begins with the earliest know ancestor(ususally the immigrant). For example, at the top of the John4 Sturdivant page is this,
John4 Sturdivant (John3A, Matthew2, John1)
John1 Sturdivant was the immigrant, his son was Matthew2, his grandson was John3, his great-grandson was John4.
- An asterisk '*' before a person's name on this list of children means that there is more information available on that person. If the information is not already on the site, send an e-mail query.
